Incentive Therapy

This site is under development and not approved for public viewing.

The Incentive Therapy (IT) program aims to help Veterans meet the physical and mental demands of employment in society — and improve their lives with better work habits, social supports and a sense of purpose. Through this program, inpatients and outpatients work throughout VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in roles that complement their skill set or career aspirations.

Veterans receive limited pay to work in such areas as printing, landscaping, housekeeping and administrative support while learning to develop and improve the skills necessary to get a job. Based on their function level, we can help Veterans find appropriate employment in the community  — while providing ongoing support — or place them in a traditional work program that will prepare them for future jobs.

The program encourages:

  • good work habits
  • attendance
  • reliability
  • punctuality
  • productivity
  • personal responsibilities
  • acceptance of supervision

Policy on Non-Discrimination
In accordance with VA Pittsburgh policy, this program strives to provide timely, coordinated and integrated case management services to Veterans. The IT program will not exclude anyone because of race, ethnic or national origin, religion, age, disability, sex or sexual orientation.
