It was an April football experience for Veterans at VA Pittsburgh's Heinz campus when players from the Arena Football League's Pittsburgh Power recently stopped by.
The players signed hats and took time to chat with Veterans, bringing some joy and excitement to their day.
"We just want to show support and spread some love to those who aren't able to get out and do the things we take for granted," says Power Wide Receiver Randy Hines. "We are always willing to give something back to those who have given so much."
"It makes us feel great to see these guys come visit us Veterans," says Army Veteran Laura Cox. "They are wonderful, and to see the faces of the Veterans light up like this makes us all feel so good."
The visit, organized through VA Pittsburgh's Voluntary Services is one of many events that help Veterans cope with the stresses of hospitalization and recovery.
"It's a blessing that the players came here to visit the Veterans," says Army Veteran Albert Stringer. "I would love take my youngest brother to one of their games and tell him that I actually met these guys."
